Homak POPS last tour race pays $3,800 to win, 2024 Point Champions will be crowned, Banquet Date Set

The Homak Penn Ohio Pro Stock Championship Series 2024 season will come to a close after this weekend’s Steel City Stampede at Lernerville Speedway.  “The weekend long event will include the Dow/Kyle Memorial race for the Homak Penn Ohio Pro Stock Championship Series and is among the richest races on the schedule every year,” stated Race Promoter, Greg Wheeling. The sponsor list and full payout for the event compiled by Wheeling is listed below. Penn Ohio Touring Series rules will be in affect. There will be a $35.00 entry fee paid to Homak Penn Ohio officials upon registering and pulling a pill. The series will be responsible for the event payout.

The final Homak Penn Ohio Series tour race of the season will determine the 2024 Point Champions for both the weekly series and the touring series. Weekly members will be awarded 25 bonus points for participating in the event. The battle for the Touring Championship will be a thriller as Josh Seippel currently sits ahead of Jason Fosnaught by just 12 points. With the tour race date at Lernerville being switched from August to October, Fosnaught has informed Homak Penn Ohio officials that he is unable to attend this weekend’s race due to prior obligations; therefore, he will utilize the substitute driver rule and have Brett McDonald taking his place. Fosnaught shared the touring championship with Hunter Exley back in 2019 prior to the series implementing a tie breaker rule, which eliminates a shared championship. Seippel has yet to capture a series championship and is hopeful to wear the crown after Saturday’s event. Leading the weekly points with 32 sanctioned Penn Ohio races in during the 2024 season and 1,388 points  is 6-time Homak Penn Ohio Points Champion, Chris Schneider. He has a considerable lead, 60 points, over 2nd place point sitter, Tim Bish who raced 14 total sanctioned races and has 1,328 points. Lurking in 3rd is former 2017 Touring Points Champion, Bobby Whitling. With 17 sanctioned races in Whitling has 1,318 points, 70 points from the lead and 10 points from Bish. Brandon Connor also has 32 sanctioned races in 2024. Connor sits in the 4th spot with 1,311 points just 7 points from Whitling, 17 points from Bish and 77 points behind Schneider. Rounding out the top five in the weekly points is Josh Seippel with 21 races, 1,296 points, 92 points behind Schneider.

Once the champions are crowned and the points are finalized, the Homak Penn Ohio Pro Stock Championship looks forward to celebrating the 2024 season on Saturday, November 23, 2024 at Gatherings Banquet Center, 2552 Benjamin Franklin Highway, Route 422, Edinburg, PA. Mark your calendars. Drivers and race teams will want to make plans to attend the event to get point money, awards and driver prizes. The event is open to the public with pre-purchased tickets for $35 per person.
