Homak POPS Holiday Weekend Roundup, Winner List, Updated Points & Touring Events

Only two Homak Penn Ohio Pro Stock Championship Series sanctioning tracks saw racing action over the cool, wet holiday weekend. Both events, one at Eriez Speedway and one at Tri City Raceway, occurred on Sunday, May 25th, allowing 34 pro stock drivers to get track time. Finding victory lane for the 2nd time this season was the “Seneca Slider,” Bobby Whitling in his #7W Slider Race Car at Tri City Raceway. Eriez Speedway winner over the 15-car field was Dean Gibson in his #X1.

Homak Penn Ohio Pro Stock Championship Series weekly points are updated with Sunday’s finishes and available on the website. Joey Zambotti did not race and dropped to 3rd in the points chase holding on to his 501 points after 5 races. Andrew Hammond jumped to the point lead with his 3rd place finish at Tri City. Hammond with 6 races in has 590 points. Brandon Connor, also with 6 races, has 582 and sits just 8 points behind Hammond. Swapping places in points after Sunday’s race are Gary Miller, now in 4th with 473 points after 5 races, and Cody Koteles, now in 5th with 468 points. Rounding out the top 10 in points are Chris Withers, 5 races with 463 points; Joshua Seippel, 5 races with 456 points; Jason Black, 4 races with 395 points; Mike Miller, 4 races with 392 points; and, John Boardman, 4 races with 391 points.
If Mother Nature cooperates, the following Homak Penn Ohio Pro Stock Championship Series’ sanctioning tracks have pro stocks on the schedule: Lernerville, Tri City, Hummingbird, Marion Center, PPMS, Sharon, Stateline and Eriez. Drivers will have an opportunity to race for $1,000 to win at Tri City Raceway on Friday, May 30th and $800 to win at Marion Center on Saturday, May 31st. Tri City will be a bonus point opportunity for series’ weekly members due to being a pre-scheduled $1k or more to win race.
The first touring series race is rapidly approaching on Saturday, June 7th for the Ed Laboon Memorial at Pittsburgh Pennsylvania Motor Speedway. The race pays $3,517 to the winner, $400 to start with additions to the purse occurring on a regular basis as well as many contingency prizes and no entry fee. There are 20 registered touring series’ members. Cost to register as a touring series’ member is $150. Touring series’ members are allowed one substitute driver in the series’ members car and one drop race. Weekly series’ members will get bonus points for participating in the prestigious pro stock event. Drivers will not want to miss out!

Each tour race pays at least $1,000 to win, $150 to start. It is NOT TO LATE and well worth drivers registering for both the weekly points and touring points.
