2023 Season winds down, no points at Sharon on 9/8, upcoming bonus point races, points battle heats up, holiday weekend winners

The 2023 Homak Penn Ohio Pro Stock Championship Series’ season is winding down, but there is still lots of racing action scheduled at sanctioning tracks in September and October.  Many end-of-season races pay $1,000 or more to win and are bonus point opportunities for series’ members.

Unfortunately, due to the announcement from Sharon Speedway permitting pro stocks to run quick change rear ends at their “Apple Festival Nationals” event on Friday and the 2023 Homak Penn Ohio Pro Stock rules indicating no quick-change differentials permitted, it has been decided, after careful consideration, that the event will be non-points for Homak Penn Ohio Series members.  This was a difficult decision for Penn Ohio officials to make but given the circumstances it is the fairest way to handle the situation. As in previous years, rules will be reviewed at the end of the season and updated as deemed necessary for the 2024 season.
Upcoming bonus point races –
Lernerville on Saturday, September 9th
Marion Center on Saturday, September 23rd
Michael’s Mercer Raceway on Friday, September 29th and Saturday, September 30th
Pittsburgh Pennsylvania Motor Speedway on Friday, September 29th
Lernerville on Friday, October 13th-Saturday, October 14th
The points battle is heating up with just 13 points separating the top 2.  Currently, Tyler Dietz has the most Homak Penn Ohio sanctioning race wins this season with 10, 7 came at Lernerville, his home track.  Dietz sits at the top of the point leader board with 1,579 points.  Tim Bish has 5 wins with 3 out of the 5 wins being at $1,000 or more to win shows.  Cody Koteles, Brandon Connor and Bobby Whitling make up 3rd through 5th in points  with just 18 points separating the 3 and Whitling just 49 points behind Dietz.  Of the top 5 Whitling is the only previous Homak Penn Ohio Points Champion.
The prior weekend found Homak Penn Ohio pro stock drivers getting racing action at sanctioning tracks: Latrobe Speedway, Marion Center Raceway, Pittsburgh Pennsylvania Motor Speedway and Tri City Raceway.  Finding victory lane were Joe Kelly at Latrobe, Bruce Hartzfeld at Marion Center for his 6th Homak Penn Ohio win of the season, Christian Schneider picked up his 1st PPMS win of the season and his 3rd overall POPS win in 2023, and Bobby Whitling swept Tri City winning both event features on Saturday and Sunday.
